Primary

These programs are specifically designed for primary school age children.

Science and Technology Stage 1, K-2: A Bug's Life

Is based on a Mini-beasts theme. It is a five week unit of work designed with activities across all KLA's. The program includes dipnetting to look at the small aquatic organisms, bug catching to look at small woodland organisms and bird watching to build a complete picture of wetland and woodland environments.

Science and Technology Stage 2, Years 3/4: A Bug's Place

Uses the Mini-worlds theme to explore "Living Things and their Surroundings" in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

The Content Strand includes:
* plants and animals live in environments that supply their needs
* change occurs throughout the lifetime of living things
* living things depend on other living things to survive
* most natural resources are limited and so need to be used wisely
* there are benefits and problems associated with human changes to the physical environment.

This 5 to 10 week theme includes activities across the other KLA's and culminates in the students developing actions to enhance their school environment. The unit is designed to be used however the teacher wishes and activities can be excluded or added to as desired.

Science and Technology Stage 3, Years 5/6: Who Killed Kermit

Investigates the impacts of humans on a wetland ecosystem. This theme explores the water quality of Longneck Lagoon and how it impacts on the aquatic invertebrates.

The Content Strand includes:
* the activities of people can change the balance of nature
* there are various parts to the physical environment
* environments on Earth have been affected by technology.
