Biology - A Local Ecosystem

The purpose of this unit is to develop the concept of the interrelationship of organisms with their environment and the methods used to investigate these relationships.

Senior Science

We have prepared a specific program of field work for the unit Local Environment. This allows the students to get the maximum benefit from field work directly related to their studies. The program uses our water and soil test kits and emphasises working in small groups as a hands on practical exercise.

Geography - Stage 6

The Fragile Ecosystems unit uses Longneck as a site for investigating a wetland as a fragile ecosystem. It is field work based and very hands on with water quality testing, vegetation transects and identification of plants and animals as well as management systems.

Stage 5 Enrichment Program with University of Western Sydney

This program is by invitation only.
The program is conducted in partnership with University of Western Sydney (UWS) School of Natural Science.
This is a two day program running from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day at UWS Hawkesbury Campus Richmond.
The study is based on Cumberland Plain ecology.

Students are engaged in:
* Utilising fieldwork equipment including GPS.
* Utilising invertebrate sampling and plant identification tools.
* Team building exercises
* Using mapping software (GIS)
